Mint Marks on most coins are
P = produced at the Philadelphia Pennsylvania branch of the United States Mint
D = produced at the Denver Colorado branch of the U.S. Mint
S = produced at the San Fancisco California branch of the U.S. Mint
O = produced at the New Orleans Louisiana branch of the U.S. Mint
CC= produced at the Carson City Nevada branch of the U.S. Mint
Half Cent coins have no mint mark, all of the 1/2 cent coins were a produced at the Philadelphia branch of the United States Mint
Large Cents ( slang= Large U S Pennies ) have no mint mark, all of the coins in this series were a produced at the Philadelphia branch of the U S Mint
Flying Eagle Cent coins (slang= Eagle Pennies) have no mint mark, all of the coins in this series were produced at the Philadelphia branch of the U S Mint
Two Cent coins have no mint mark, all of the 2 cent coins were produced at the Philadelphia branch of the United States Mint
Three Cent Nickels have no mint mark, all of the coins in this series were produced at the Philadelphia branch of the U.S. Mint
Shield Nickels have no mint mark, all of the coins in this series were a produced at the Philadelphia branch of the U S Mint
Indian Head Cents - All struck at the Philadelphia Mint except 1908 S and 1909 S The Mint mark is under the wreath on the back of the coin
Lincoln Cents - On the front of the coin under the date Some cents were produced at San Francisco 1979 to 1983 West Point 1975 to 19 86 but mint marks were not applied
Silver Three Cent coins 1851 O ( O = New Orleans branch ) The O mint mark is located on back of the III cent silver coins 3 cent silver coins have a large letter C partially surrounding the roman numerals III on the back of the coin
Liberty Head Five Cent ( slang= V Nickels 1912 S and 1912 D have the mint mark located on back of the coin at left of CENTS
Indian Head Nickels (slang= Buffalo Nickel ) Mint mark is located on the back of the coin beneath FIVE CENTS
Jefferson Nickels 1938 to 1942 - 1946 to 1964 mint mark is located on the back of the coin on the right side of the Monticello building 1942 to 1945 silver coins are indicated by the mint mark placed above the dome on the back of the coin 1965 to 1967 have no mint mark, there is no way to tell which mint struck the coins 1968 to present the mint mark is located on the front of the coin beneath President Jeffersons ponytail P, D or S
Seated Liberty Dimes 1837 to 1891 on the back of the coin inside OR beneath wreath
Barber Dimes 1892 to 1916 on the back of the coin below the wreath
Winged Mercury Head Liberty Dimes (slang= Mercury Dimes ) On back of the coin to left of podium
Roosevelt Dimes 1946 to 1964 on back of the coin at the base of the torch podium, 1965 to 1967 have no mint mark but were produced at P, D and S mints 1968 to present on the front of the coin above the date
Twenty Cent coins mint mark located on the back of the coin beneath the eagle
Seated Liberty Quarters 1837 to 1891 Mint mark on the back of the coin located beneath the eagle
Barber Quarters 1892 to 1916 mint mark located on the back of the coin beneath the eagle
Standing Liberty Quarters 1916 to 1931 to left of the date on the front of the coin
Washington Quarters 1932 to 1964 mint mark on the back of the coin beneath the eagle 1965 to 1967 prodcued at all branches of the United States Mint with no mint mark applied 1968 to present mint mark on the front of the coin near President Washington's ponytail
Seated Liberty Half Dollars 1839 to 1891 On the back of the coin beneath the eagles tail
